Behind Every Service at L’Actuel, There Are Volunteers
Every day, people walk through the doors of L’Actuel looking for information, support, or simply a place where they can feel welcomed and heard. Behind this warm welcome are dedicated volunteers who play an essential role in our organization.
Volunteerism is at the heart of our mission. Thanks to the involvement of generous individuals, we are able to offer a wide range of services that provide meaningful support to members of our community.
Services That Make a Difference
At L’Actuel, volunteers help make many essential services possible. These include medical transportation, friendly visits, wellness calls, medication reminders, and automated safety calls through SécuriCAB. We also offer collective kitchens, food, clothing, and baby essentials assistance, as well as support to other organizations and volunteer referral services. Our services also include tax clinics, help with form completion, our solidarity thrift store, and much more.
Together, these services help support individuals in need and strengthen the social fabric of the Vaudreuil-Soulanges community.
A Key Role: Reception
Within all of this, reception plays a particularly important role. Volunteers at the front desk are often the first point of contact for people who come to L’Actuel. They welcome visitors, answer questions, direct individuals to the appropriate services, and help create a warm and reassuring environment.
But their role goes far beyond greeting people. A large part of their work also involves supporting the logistics of medical transportation, an essential service for many people in our community, particularly seniors or individuals who do not have access to transportation for their medical appointments.
Reception volunteers help receive transportation requests, coordinate trips, and communicate with volunteer drivers so that clients can safely attend their medical appointments. This coordination is essential to ensure the smooth operation of the service and to allow many individuals to access the care they need.
It is a role that requires organization and attentive listening, but above all a strong sense of helping others. Every call answered and every ride coordinated helps support someone on their healthcare journey.
Growing Needs
Like many community organizations, we are seeing that needs within the community continue to grow. More and more people rely on our services, and to continue offering a warm welcome and quality support, we are looking for volunteers for reception and medical transportation logistics.
