February 1982 First meeting held to create an interim committee to found of the Centre d’action bénévole a volunteer centre.

March 11, 1982 The government grants a charter to the Centre de bénévolat Vaudreuil-Soulanges. In April 1982, the Centre de bénévolat moves to a location at 192 rue St-Charles, provided courtesy of the Town of Dorion.  The centre provides four types of service: soup kitchen, the kitchen in L’Île-Perrot, recreation and sports for handicapped people and loan of orthopaedic devices provided by the Red Cross.

September 1984 Enlargement of headquarters

1988 The centre modifies its corporate name and becomes Centre d’action bénévole L’Actuel serving the territory of Vaudreuil’s county.

1990 Two permanent employees and 123 active volunteers, comprising 101 women and 22 men serving 54,615 residents in 19 municipalities.

July 1991 The Centre moves to its premises at 88 rue Adèle, Vaudreuil-Dorion.

March 7, 1992 10th anniversary reunion gala at the l’Île-Perrot community centre.

1997
  1. Construction of a building for our food services, family counter and meeting rooms.
  2. International Year of the Volunteer
  3. Vast fundraising campaign for the enlargement of the Centre building to help people in need.
  4. Beginning of major extension of L’Actuel’s premises to group all the offered services under the same roof.

2004 Modernization work carried out at the kitchen and purchase of a minivan to transport beneficiaries.

March 8, 2012 30th anniversary of the Centre d’action bénévole L’Actuel

January 24, 2013 to date Our growth plan, UNE ACTION POUR L’AVENIR, is underway and going well. The project is an expression of the importance that we all accord to the services provided by L’Actuel’s 17 employees and 264 volunteers serving a population of 143 360 residents in 15 municipalities.
