Le communautaire à boutte: L’Actuel in Partial Strike on March 24, 27 and 30
Across Quebec, community organizations are sounding the alarm. The Le communautaire à boutte movement denounces the chronic underfunding of the community sector, even as the needs of the population continue to grow. To learn more about this province-wide mobilization, you can visit the movement’s website: https://aboutte.info/
Like many organizations across the province, the Centre d’action bénévole L’Actuel is joining this movement in solidarity. As such, we will be participating in a partial strike on March 24, 27 and 30, 2026. Please note that L’Actuel’s thrift store will remain open during these days. As a social economy initiative, it directly helps fund our community services while promoting reuse and providing affordable goods to the community.
This mobilization aims to highlight a reality well known in the sector: community organizations play an essential role in supporting individuals and families, yet they too often do so with insufficient resources. Every day, committed staff and dedicated volunteers work tirelessly to meet the needs of the community: food assistance, medical transportation, support for seniors, accompaniment services, and much more. However, funding has not kept pace with the growing needs.
By taking part in this mobilization, we hope to raise awareness among the public and decision-makers about the importance of adequately supporting the community sector, so that we can continue to fulfill our mission in sustainable conditions.
We thank the community for its understanding and solidarity.
Together, let us remember that community organizations are essential and they deserve the means to carry out their mission.
